Classes are one-on-one, with a two person maximum, or three with Lexi’s permission. She wants to make sure you have her undivided attention. Classes cover one to five days, however long you wish to stay and learn.

Getting Started in Metalsmithing, Basic
ONE DAY. No experience necessary. Lexi explains all the basic techniques and tools needed to begin your career or hobby in this exciting and easy class. She removes all intimidation and you leave with two pair of earrings and three band rings. This is an extremely popular class. Yes, you can do it in one day! Techniques taught include studio safety, sawing, filing, texturing, basic soldering, finishing techniques.
Getting Started in Metalsmithing, Extended
TWO DAYS. Everything from the Getting Started in Metalsmithing Basic class, but also includes advanced techniques of sawing, soldering and finishing. Students will make two additional pieces using more advanced, yet simple, techniques.
Fearless Soldering with Lexi
ONE DAY. Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist magazine has called Lexi the “Queen of Soldering”. Learn all the tips and tricks while Lexi promises you will conquer your fear of failure and fire with this class. Lexi had written the definitive book on soldering for Interweave Press, and has several best selling DVDs available on her techniques. Don’t miss this one!
Intro to Bezel Setting
ONE DAY. Remove the stress of understanding all things “bezel” and learn the tricks for setting the perfect bezel around your stone. Different height and style bezels are discussed, along with making your own one of a kind bezels which fit your style jewelry.
Advanced Bezel Setting & Partials
TWO DAYS. Learn how to perfect Lexi’s unique signature partial bezel and prongs look. This class includes design, textures, patinas, unusual bail design, and much, much more. You provide a difficult to set stone, and together you will design a stunning one of a kind piece.
You Can Never Have Too Many Tools
ONE DAY. What do I need for specific projects and where do I find it? What suppliers supply what products? What will work best for my needs? This is a day for playing with Lexi’s extensive personal tools and experimenting with new products. Learning about different metals, banging metal with new hammers, bending with pliers, flex shaft accessories, and finding out lot of tips and tricks. Find out where beautiful stones and beads can be located. A great class for introducing new products and techniques. Totally hands-on!
Complex Soldering with Success
ONE DAY. This class is designed for someone with experience in soldering, yet has specific problems or wishes to learn advanced techniques for soldering in difficult circumstances. Lexi will demonstrate a number advanced soldering techniques, plus help you with all of your soldering questions.
Bunches of Bails
ONE DAY. Bail yourself out! Bails can be one of the most interesting aspects of your jewelry design, and does not need to be a simple jump ring or be hidden on the back. In this hands-on class, Lexi teaches a variety of bail techniques which make jewelry designs unique and yet very functional. Knowledge of soldering is required.
Life Is Texture
ONE DAY. Lexi is known for the variety of innovative textures she puts on her pieces. This class is a techniques class in which many textures and how to create them are explored. Students will leave with a variety of samples in silver and copper which may either be used in specific pieces or kept as reference.
ONE DAY. Reticulation is a specific technique that imparts a distinct and unusual texture on your metal. There are tricks to dealing with the metal and the pieces that result. Students will leave with a number of samples they have made using this beautiful technique.
TWO DAYS. A continuation of the techniques class, with emphasis on creating a finished piece of jewelry.
Basic Jewelry Design
ONE DAY. Got a challenge? Have a design, but don't know how to execute it? Will it will even hang correctly? Need to know how to design around a particularly difficult shape? Learn the five simple rules of design, and how jewelers use the elements and principles of design to create stunning and unusual designs. Very popular class!
The Landscape as Inspiration
Your Local Architecture as Inspiration
ONE DAY. No matter where you live, the landscape and the architecture around you influences your thought and design process. This truly inspiring workshop lets you take your geographic area along with the plant communities in your area and transform them into jewelry designs. This has become one of Lexi's favorite and most popular workshops. This is a design only workshop. No tools or equipment required, just your camera, sketchbook and pencils.
ONE DAY. This class deals with the acid etching of sterling silver or copper and making a stylish cuff bracelet. Several other pieces of jewelry can also be made, time allowing. The student will leave with several finished bracelets.
Patinas and Textures
ONE DAY. The class combines interesting patinas using easily found chemicals, and unique textures. Students will leave with three bracelets and either a pendant or earrings. This one is lots of fun!!
Bracelets and Bangles
ONE DAY. Learn to make three bangles with different textures and patinas. This has become one of her most popular workshops, and you leave with pieces that are instant sales successes!
ONE DAY. Learn to laminate mixed metals to create distinct patterns for your jewelry. Students will leave with two pieces of mokume-gane metal that can be used in other projects.
